Merrionnette Park Wins on Walk-Off Homerun

Evergreen Park went undefeated in pool play in the Oak Lawn tournament and advanced directly to the championship game. Four other teams (including the Warriors) went 2-1. The runs allowed tie breaker was ultimately applied. Merionnette Park and Oak Lawn Thunder allowed 16 runs and 18 runs respectively--and played off to determine who would face Evergreen Park in the championship game. Oak Lawn Thunder defeated Merrionnette Park to earn its way into the championship game.

The Warriors allowed just 19 runs in the tournament and played Glen Ellyn on Monday night to determine which team would "place" and advance to the consolation game on Tuesday night. The Warriors defeated Glen Ellyn by a score of 3-0 for its third win of the tournament!

Although it is frustrating to know that we were just three runs allowed from playing for the tournament's championship, the team bounced right back with a win over Glen Ellyn to place in the tournament.

Merrionnette Park defeated the Warriors by a score of 7-6 after a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning. Merrionnette Park played stellar defense throughout the game--converting three double plays in the contest! Danny Poulos was recognized with the game's MVP for his two hits and aggressive baserunning in this game.
