Cooperstown Dreams Park

There has been much discussion recently about the possibility of our Warriors' team registering to play in Cooperstown (Dreams Park). As you might know, Cooperstown hosts 12U tournaments all summer and over 1,000 12U players participate in games at the site on any given day!

Ordinarily, teams reserve a spot at Cooperstown at least a year in advance. However, a recent cancellation has provided the Warriors an opportunity to play during the week of August 23rd.

To my surprise, there is a great deal of interest in this opportunity. In fact, we are very close to having the numbers to move forward on this. Since there is so much interest, I would like to hold a brief meeting with all of the parents (whether you are interested in the trip or not) immediately after Saturday morning's game in Hickory Hills.

This meeting will be approximately 10-15 minutes and will cover the following:

• Cost--base and optional costs


• Logistics--transportation, lodging, meals, umpiring, volunteers


• Security--supervision, chaperones


• School--excused absences, homework assignments


• Competition--the tournament itself and setting expectations


• Roster--# of players & coaches, playing time


• Other Q&A

I will present information regarding the above topics so that each family can make a more informed decision regarding whether Cooperstown makes sense for your situation. You will NOT be asked to commit to anything at this meeting. Rather, you will have an opportunity to think things over on your own (privately). I will then be available by cell phone throughout the day to answer any further questions that you might have. By late Saturday night/Sunday morning, we'll need a final decision on whether to proceed with this.
