Oak Forest defeated the Warriors by a score of 10-2 in the second game of the Oak Lawn Westside tournament.
Things went badly for the Warriors right from the start. In the top of the first inning, the Oak Forest shortstop made a spectacular catch on a ball that was dropping in shallow leftfield off the bat of Jason Waner. Paco Lauciello then hammered a ball to right-centerfield that rolled out onto the street for a ground rule double before Ryan Knightly smashed a line drive right at the centerfielder to end the inning with no runs scored.
Oak Forest scored six runs in the bottom of the inning after a walk was followed by consecutive hit batsmen. A dropped fly ball extended the inning until three more hits led to a six run lead for Oak Forest.
Besides a base hit down the rightfield line in the third inning by Ryan Novak and another double by Paco Lauciello in the fourth inning, the Warriors had very little offense--scoring just one run through the first five innings of play. Sam Marc's single to center was the Warriors' fourth and final hit of the ballgame.
Ryan Novak settled in on the mound after the first inning and held Oak Forest to one run in his remaining three innings of work.
The Warriors had its chance in the top of the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and the score at 8-2, Paco Lauciello came to the plate. He hit a rocket directly at the centerfielder to end the innng.
Oak Forest went on to score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the sixth inning, an 8 run mercy rule comes into play which ended the game at that point.
OAK FOREST: 10 runs, 8 hits, 0 errors, 4 left on base
WARRIORS: 2 runs, 4 hits, 3 errors, 8 left on base
